Day 27: Going Our Separate Ways (2/1/22)

I must admit, today Phil and I didn’t see much of each other. He was anxious to get into Tucson to check out the YMCA, work out, refill our propane tank, and buy some of the food that he likes but that I don’t usually buy. You know—chips, white bread, beer, and a huge bottle of pickles. Guy stuff.

It was a lovely morning to sit and read. This was my view from my lawn chair this morning:

I spent the morning catching up on writing, cleaning the trailer, and hanging out with the dogs. I think all this travel is a bit discombobulating for them. It helps when Toto can sleep on my lap and Ernie can stretch out beside me, both of them snoring gently. And it was a great excuse to simply lounge around, listening to my current audiobook by Louise Penny.

When Phil came back mid-afternoon, I took the plunge and piled up all our sheets and blankets—quite a bundle. I located a laundromat in Eloy, a small town ten miles north, and drove there, changed a $20 bill into quarters (felt like I was standing in front of a slot machine, hitting the jackpot), and did five loads of wash simultaneously.

I got back for a late dinner (slow-cooked chicken in the Instant Pot), and we watched Under the Vines in the darkness. Nice to do something together.
